Disable Low Battery Warning in Windows
Windows is pre-configured to let you know when your battery is getting low. Desktops don’t have this problem. This applies to laptops, tablets and other portable/mobile devices running Windows OS. You will be prompted when your battery life on your laptop falls below a certain percentage, depending on your settings. This is a useful and needed feature, but in certain cases it can be annoying and get in the way of your activities.
For example, you may have a jacked up battery that is either dead or can only hold a low percentage charge. You may need to always run on wall power because the battery fails to hold a proper charge. In such a case, Windows may dim your screen every few minutes, preventing all input, and hit you with a warning like this or something similar…
You’ll be stuck looking at it, unable to continue working until you press OK or Close, only to have it re-emerge every few minutes.
If you want this to stop, we’ll turn off these messages all together. Here’s how…
1: Open the start menu.
2: Type ‘Edit Power Plan’ then press enter or click the named option when it appears.
The Edit Plan Settings window will open.
3: Click on ‘Change Advanced Power Settings’ to open the Power Options.
4: Look for ‘Battery’ in the list and click its plus sign to expand it.
You should see ‘Critical Battery Notification’ and/or ‘Low Battery Notification’.
5: Expand either or both of these with the plus sign to reveal their settings.
As you may notice, you have two separate settings. One for when you are using wall power and one for when you are unplugged and using the battery alone.
6: Click one of the options (On Battery or Plugged In) to reveal a drop down menu.
7: Click the arrow and change the setting to ‘Off’.
If you want the message gone entirely turn both notifications off in both sections. Otherwise leave the one you want set to ‘ON’.
8: Click ‘Apply’ when you’re done.
9: Hit OK to close the Power Options then close the Edit Plan Settings window.
Thats it. No more interrupting and nagging about battery levels. Make sure you get that battery replaced ASAP!
Enjoy your progress and stay focused!
